The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has announced its preseason volleyball poll one week before Goldey-Beacom is scheduled to begin its season.

The Lightning, who were picked seventh in the South Division, sport a roster with six newcomers and eight players who are either freshmen or sophomores.

Junior Grace McCarthy (Middletown, DE) had a solid campaign at outside hitter, ending 22nd in the CACC with 2.36 kills per set.  She comes into the season needing just 63 kills to reach the school's career top-10 list.

Senior Innocent Early (Newark, NJ) also had a solid campaign last season, closing 24th in the league with 2.35 kills per set, 18th with a .219 hitting percentage and 18th with 60 blocks.

Goldey-Beacom needs only 11 victories to reach 250 in school history.

The Lightning will have a new look on the sidelines with Sara Scheirman taking over as head coach.  Scheirman served the last two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Temple and played four years at Duquesne, earning second team All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors in 2010.

Wilmington (DE) was picked to win the South Division and Post was tabbed to capture the North Division.

Goldey-Beacom starts the season September 4 against Bowie State in West Chester, PA.
