Volleyball Notches 3-1 Triumph Over Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom received a major battle from Georgian Court in a tough Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division match with the former getting a 3-1 victory (25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21) at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The first set saw the Lightning on fire with 14 kills and just one error for a .406 hitting percentage.  Sophomores Alana Scott (Gaithersburg, MD) and Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) each had four kills in the set with sophomore Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) adding three.
 
The third saw the Lightning down 22-19 before rallying for the next six points.  Gingras and senior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) had two kills apiece in that span and Goldey-Beacom forced Georgian Court into two attack errors for a two sets to one lead.
 
The Lions in the fourth owned a 20-17 lead and the momentum before the Lightning (12-3, 4-1 CACC) ended things on an 8-1 run.  Sophomore Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) served two aces in that time and junior Angelica Febres (San Juan, PR) recorded two kills that included match point.
 
Gingras recorded 12 kills and 16 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, Fullwood also had 12 kills and Scott was outstanding with nine kills and five digs.  Junior Brianna Anderson (Mesa, AZ) amassed 25 digs, Fru had 22 assists and junior Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) added 17.
 
Flavia Pecora did everything she could to keep the Lions in it with seven kills, eight aces, four digs, two block solos and two block assists.  Keira Mullen notched 14 kills and 10 digs, Ava Churnesky had 11 and nine with Carmen Rivera Colon adding 24 digs for Georgian Court (3-13, 0-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is home against Dominican (NY) as part of Homecoming and Lightning Family Weekend.  Match time is at noon.
