News and Notes• Looking to open the season on a positive note, the Lightning men's soccer team welcomes Chowan, Felician and Washington Adventist to Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field for three matches over the next two days ... On Saturday, the Lightning will host the Hawks at 12 p.m. ... Sunday will feature a doubleheader as Chowan takes on Felician at 12 p.m. followed by the Lightning against Washington Adventist at approximately 2:30 p.m.

• The Lightning open the season by playing their first five matches at home ... After this weekend's matches, Goldey-Beacom will host Lock Haven on Tuesday, September 9 at 4 p.m. before starting its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday, September 13 against Caldwell University at 2 p.m.

Luiz Ristow, the Lightning return four of their top six scorers from a year ago ... Ristow scored three goals and was tied for the team lead with three assists while starting 12 of 15 games last season ... Meanwhile, junior forward

• After posting a 4-11-2 record last season, Felician also started its season on Thursday night and suffered a 2-0 loss at American International College ... The Golden Falcons, who were picked to finish 11th in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference standings, will be led by senior midfielder
Rafa Coronel after scoring a team-high eight goals last year ... Of the Golden Falcons' first 10 matches this season, 8 of them will be played on the road.
• The Golden Falcons and the Lightning will square off in a CACC match on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Goldey-Beacom ... It will serve as the Lightning's annual Homecoming match.
• Washington Adventist will head into Sunday's game against the Lightning with a 1-0-0 record after earning a 2-0 victory over Penn State-York on Wednesday afternoon ... Junior forward
Ryan Senior led the Shock to the victory by scoring a gaol with an assist ... The Shock, who play in the NAIA, posted an 8-7-0 record last year and advanced to the consolation game of the USCAA Men's Soccer National Championships.
