Box Score
Lafayette Hill, PA.- The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning (6-4-1, 3-4-1 CACC) continued their impressive four game point streak by earning a much needed three points in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action by defeating the Chestnut Hill College Griffins (2-12, 2-8 CACC) 2-0 at Victory Field on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Lightning are 3-0-1 in their last four games.
After a sluggish start and minimal scoring chances the Lightning finally broke the scoring drought in the 78
th minute when sophomore forward
Jane Grimley (Delsea Regional H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) scored her third goal of the season off of a corner kick taken by sophomore defender
Lauren Devault (Woodstown H.S./Woodstown, N.J.) Grimley found herself in great position after a far-post run, and timed Devault's pass perfectly as she "chested" the ball past the keeper from two yards out for a 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute and a half later senior forward
Danielle Semenza (Hazleton Area H.S./Hazle Township, Pa.) was in the right place at the right time as she took a shot that was initially saved by Griffin junior goalkeeper Kayla Reno (Community College of Baltimore County /Catonsville, MD), however Semenza followed the rebound and headed in the goal to the upper right corner, her sixth of the season, and her third in the last five contests.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Cindell Aguirre (Coronado H.S./El Paso, Texas) had yet another positive performance and posted her second straight shutout in as many starts by warding off three Griffin shots.
With another road win in the books, the lightning improved to 6-1 in contests away from Nancy Churchman Sawin Field and have scored at least two goals in eight out of 11 matches this season. The Lightning have scored 31 goals as a team this year, good for second in the conference and only two behind Georgian Court University.
The Lightning will be idle until Saturday, when they will face off against Concordia College at home for a CACC matchup slated to begin at 1:00 PM.
