WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior outside hitter Anabelle Barinas (Essex County Vo. Tech. H.S./Newark, N.J.) recorded nine kills and hit .500 as Georgian Court University (1-4, 1-0) used a strong hitting effort to earn its first win of the season, a three-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (1-5, 0-1) in the Lightning's home opener at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Thursday evening.

The Lions, who tallied just eight attack errors in the match, earned the victory by scores of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-15.

In addition to nine kills by Barinas, the Lions also received a nine-kill performance from junior outside hitter Tatiana Villariny-Rodriguez (Escuela Superior/Rio Grande, P.R.). Villariny-Rodriguez also contributed five total blocks for the Lions, who recorded nine team blocks in the victory.

Freshman middle hitter Kelsie Blue (Southern Regional H.S./Waretown, N.J.) contributed five kills with seven total blocks while junior setter Jaslene Lopez (Colegio Valvanera/Coamo, P.R.) recorded 21 assists with three service aces.

Junior outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) led the Lightning with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage while junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) added seven kills and seven digs.

The Lightning will continue their four-match homestand on Saturday, Sept. 14 when they host a tri-match against Cheyney and Delaware Valley beginning at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, the Lions will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 to face Wilmington University at 7 p.m.
