PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior forward Jeanette Anderson (Lynn English H.S./Lynn, Mass.) converted a pair of free throws with 7.6 seconds remaining in the second overtime period as Caldwell College (19-11) overcame a 15-point deficit in the first half to advance to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship Game with a 70-69 double overtime victory over Goldey-Beacom College (20-10) in the first semifinal at Bobby Morgan Arena on Friday afternoon.

Led by Anderson, who finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, the Cougars will face defending CACC champion Holy Family on Saturday at 4 p.m. after the Tigers defeated Dominican in the other semifinal by a 67-51 margin. It also marked the Cougars' 15th consecutive victory, extending their school record.

Senior forward Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) gave the Lightning a 69-68 lead on a lay-up with 32 seconds remaining. On the ensuing Caldwell possession, Anderson was fouled by senior forward Akilah Sewell (Baltimore City College H.S./Baltimore, Md.). Anderson made both free throws to regain a one-point advantage for the Cougars.

After the Lightning called a timeout with 6.3 seconds remaining, Richardson had a chance to give the Lightning the victory, but was unable to get a shot off before the clock expired as Caldwell held on for the win.

The teams battled to an 8-8 tie in the opening seven minutes of the first half before the Lightning used a 26-11 run, including a pair of three-point field goals from senior guard Jacinda Jones (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.), to take a commanding 34-19 lead with 2:05 remaining.

The Cougars trimmed the deficit to 34-27 by scoring eight consecutive points, including six from sophomore guard Jessica Coscia (Moore Catholic H.S./Staten Island, N.Y.), before senior guard Ashley Rosario (Harry S. Truman H.S./Levittown, Pa.) scored with six seconds remaining to give Goldey-Beacom a 36-27 advantage at the intermission.

Led by six points from senior guard Torey Jones (LaSalle Academy/Providence, R.I.), the Cougars scored 13 of the first 18 points to narrow the margin to 41-40 with 13:07 left in the second half. But, the Lightning responded by scoring 7 of the next 10 points to regain a 48-43 advantage to 7:45 remaining on a free throw by Jacinda Jones.

With Goldey-Beacom leading by a 53-48 margin with 5:03 remaining in regulation, the Cougars battled to take a 57-55 edge with 2:12 remaining by going on an 11-2 spurt, including five points from Torey Jones.

The teams traded a made free throw before Richardson forced the first overtime period with a lay-up with nine seconds remaining, tying the game at 58-58.

Caldwell scored the first five points of the first overtime period, including three points from Anderson, to take a 63-58 lead with 3:24 remaining in the stanza. But, the Lightning rallied to tie the game at 63-63 with a five-point spurt of their own, including a three-point basket by Jacinda Jones.

The Lightning had a chance to win the game in the closing seconds of the first overtime period, but a jumper by Richardson went wide and the game proceeded to a second overtime.

A five-point run by Torey Jones gave Caldwell a 68-63 advantage with 2:09 remaining, but the Lightning put together a 6-0 run to take a 69-68 edge and set up the game-winning heroics for the Cougars.

While Anderson led the Cougars to the victory, Torey Jones tallied a game-high 28 points for the Cougars after making 9 of 18 shots from the floor and 8 of 11 free throw attempts. She also added three assists and two steals for the Cougars, who avenged a 55-53 loss against the Lightning on Dec. 8 at the Joseph West Jones College Center.

Meanwhile, senior center Gillian Felix (Mahopac H.S./Mahopac, N.Y.) added a “double double” with 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds while Coscia came off the bench to score 12 points with four assists and three rebounds.
