Opening Tip-Off
With a berth in the 2013 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship Game on the line, the Lightning will head to the University of the Sciences on Friday afternoon to face Caldwell College in the first semifinal. Opening tip-off between the Lightning and the Cougars is slated for 12 p.m. In addition, live stats and video for Friday's game will be available via the CACC's official website, www.caccathletics.org.

Note: Tickets will be sold for each game during the tournament at a cost of six dollars for adults and three dollars for senior citizens, children and students with valid college ID. Children under the age of three years old will be admitted for free.

Updating the Lightning
After earning a 63-42 victory over Post University in the CACC quarterfinals on Saturday, the Lightning have won 10 of their last 11 games and will bring a 20-9 record into Friday's game against the Cougars. The Lightning, who set a school record with their 20th victory, held Post to just 16 points in the first half en route to their second win over the Eagles this season. Senior guard Devonne Richardson nearly recorded a “triple double” on Saturday afternoon by scoring 23 points with a game-high 12 rebounds and eight assists. She also added three steals as the Lightning earned their seventh straight win over the Eagles. Meanwhile, senior forward Irene Hudson added 11 points with four rebounds while senior forward Akilah Sewell contributed 10 points with six rebounds off the bench. Hudson is the Lightning's leading scorer with a 12.8 average while Richardson is contributing 12.2 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds per outing.

Scouting Caldwell
Riding a school-record 14-game win streak, the CACC North Division champion Cougars defeated Philadelphia University by a 72-50 margin in a quarterfinal game at the Newman Center on Saturday afternoon. Now 18-11 on the season, the Cougars had four of their starters score in double figures, including a pair of “double double” efforts from junior forward Jeanette Anderson and senior center Gillian Felix. Anderson, who leads the Cougars by grabbing 9.8 rebounds per game, scored 12 points with a game-high 13 rebounds while Felix contributed 10 points with 10 rebounds. Senior guard Torey Jones ranks sixth in the CACC by averaging 16.9 points per game while ranking second in the CACC with a .401 three-point field goal percentage. Coach Linda Cimino is in her seventh season as the Cougars' leader; she has posted a 109-87 record.

Streaks, Storylines and Sidebars
• After their win over Post in the CACC quarterfinals last Saturday, the Lightning have earned the first 20-win season in school history. It is also the first time a Goldey-Beacom basketball team (men's or women's) has won 20 games in the same season.
• A win over the Cougars on Friday afternoon would give the Lightning a berth into the CACC Championship Game for the second time in school history. The Lightning won their only other title game berth with a victory over Holy Family in the 2011 CACC Championship Game.
• The Lightning will tie a school record by playing in their 30th game of the season on Friday; they played 30 games in 2010-11.
• Over the last four years, the Lightning have a 74-41 (.643) record and have won at least 17 games in each season.
• The Lightning's 74 wins over the last four years rank second in the CACC. Holy Family has won 105 games since 2009-10.
• The Lightning are the only team in the CACC to have an undefeated record against the North Division this year. Entering the CACC semifinals against Caldwell, Goldey-Beacom has a perfect 8-0 record against North Division foes.
• The Lightning are now 4-2 this season in games decided by five points or less after their 61-60 win at Dominican on Feb. 16.
• The Lightning set a school record by winning 16 CACC games during the regular season, breaking the old mark of 14 wins that was set last year.
• Goldey-Beacom is 18-3 in its last 21 games after a five-game losing streak from Nov. 16 to Nov. 25.
• The Lightning have already set team single-season records for blocked shots (147) and assists (382) this season.
• The Lightning are 8-2 in their last 10 home games after last Saturday's victory over Post in the CACC quarterfinals.
• The Lightning have also posted an 11-3 record in the month of February over the last two seasons. They were 5-1 this year.
• Of the eight teams to defeat the Lightning this season, seven of them advanced to their respective conference's tournament.
• The Lightning are ranked second in the CACC and fourth in NCAA Division II in opponent field goal percentage defense (.319). In conference games, the Lightning led the CACC by holding opponents to a .286 field goal percentage.
• Goldey-Beacom has held its opponent to under 50 points in 9 of its last 14 games after holding an opponent under 50 points just one time in the first 15 games. The Lightning are 13-2 over the last two seasons when holding an opponent under 50 points, including a 9-1 mark this year.
• The Lightning have held the rebounding advantage in 16 of their last 19 games. In last Saturday's CACC quarterfinal win over Post, the Lightning had a commanding 54-33 edge on the boards.
• The Lightning are 17-3 this season when leading at the intermission. They have led at the half in 13 of their last 14 games.
• The Lightning enter Friday afternoon's game leading the CACC in fewest turnovers per game with a 16.2 average. In addition, they lead the CACC by averaging 14.9 made free throws per game.
• The Lightning have posted 62 blocked shots in their last 10 games, including 23 blocks in their last three outings. Goldey-Beacom ranks second in the CACC by averaging 5.1 blocked shots per game.
• After scoring 72 points in the win over Nyack on Feb. 13, the Lightning have won 16 consecutive games when scoring 70 or more points, including a perfect 7-0 record this year. The Lightning's last loss when scoring 70 or more points came against the University of the District of Columbia in an 86-74 setback on Nov. 19, 2011.
• Over the last five games, Goldey-Beacom opponents have made just 26.2 per cent of their three-point field goal attempts. In Saturday's win, the Lightning held Post to just 5-for-18 shooting from beyond the arc. The Lightning rank second in the CACC in opponent three-point field goal percentage (.271) this year.
• Senior guard Jacinda Jones started the 104th game of her college career in the CACC quarterfinal win over Post, matching the school record set by Toni Jones from 2004-08. There have been just three players to start 100 games in school history.
• Senior forward Irene Hudson has scored in double figures in 14 of her last 15 games, including the last seven contests. Since Dec. 28, she is averaging 13.8 points per contest while making 51.4 per cent of her field goal attempts.
• In addition, Hudson has knocked down at least 50.0 per cent of her field goal attempts in six of her last seven games. She was held to just 4-for-8 shooting from the field in the win over Post on Saturday.
• Senior guard Devonne Richardson recorded eight assists in the Lightning's win over Post on Saturday afternoon, which upped her season total to a school-record 129 assists in 27 games to break the single-season mark she set last year. Richardson ranks second in the CACC in assists this year and is one of five players in the CACC with 100 or more assists.
• After being held to just six points in back-to-back games against Holy Family and Chestnut Hill, Richardson has tallied 10 or more points in seven of the last eight games, averaging 12.0 points per game.

A Look Back at This Year's Regular Season Meeting
Senior guard Devonne Richardson scored the game-winning field goal with 5.8 seconds remaining in regulation to give Goldey-Beacom a 55-53 victory over Caldwell in a CACC game at the Joseph West Jones College Center. The win allowed the Lightning to defeat the Cougars for just the fifth time in the last 16 meetings while handing Caldwell its 10th loss in the last 11 games. After the Lightning took a timeout with 14 seconds remaining, Richardson converted a driving lay-up on the right side to give Goldey-Beacom a two-point edge. The Cougars had one final chance to tie the game, but freshman guard Fahime Farzanessa missed a lay-up as time expired. Richardson scored 15 points with a season-high 16 rebounds to lead the Lightning while senior guard Ashley Rosario tallied a season-high 17 points off the bench with four rebounds.  

Series Business: Caldwell
Since the start of the 2002-03 season, the Lightning and the Cougars have met 16 times in a series that Caldwell leads by an 11-5 margin. In addition, the Cougars have won four of the last six meetings despite dropping a 55-53 decision against the Lightning on Dec. 8. The Lightning's last win in the series prior to this year came on Jan. 23, 2010 in a 73-72 overtime victory over the Cougars as senior guard Devonne Richardson scored the eventual game-winning basket on a jumper with six seconds remaining in the overtime period. Richardson finished the game with a “double double” by scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds and six assists. Meanwhile, Janae Weldon tallied a game-high 26 points for the Lightning, who made six of seven field goal attempts in the overtime period.

Richardson Highlights Lightning's All-CACC Selections
Seniors Devonne Richardson, Irene Hudson and Jacinda Jones were named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball teams as announced by the CACC on Feb. 27. Richardson, who received All-CACC accolades for the third time in her career, was named to the All-CACC first team for the first time in her career while Hudson earned second team notice for the second consecutive season. Meanwhile, Jones earned her third career All-CACC selection after being named as an honorable mention selection. Goldey-Beacom, Holy Family and Dominican were the only schools with three honorees on the All-CACC teams.

Goldey-Beacom in the CACC Tournament Quick Hits
• The Lightning will be playing in their 11th all-time CACC Tournament game on Friday and have a 6-4 all-time record.
• Of the previous 10 CACC Tournament games played by the Lightning, three of them have come against Holy Family. The Tigers defeated the Lightning in the 2006 CACC quarterfinals and 2007 CACC semifinals while the Lightning claimed victory in the 2011 CACC Championship Game.
• The Lightning's CACC quarterfinal win over Post marked just the second time Goldey-Beacom has hosted a CACC women's basketball playoff game in school history. Goldey-Beacom lost by a 48-46 margin to Concordia in last year's CACC quarterfinals.
• The 42 points allowed by the Lightning in their quarterfinal win over Post are tied for the third-fewest single-game total in CACC Tournament history.
• Goldey-Beacom held a commanding 21-rebound advantage over Post in Saturday's quarterfinal win, marking the third-highest rebounding margin in a CACC Tournament game.
Cherrise Graham set several CACC Tournament single-game records in the Lightning's 2007 CACC quarterfinal victory over Concordia, scoring a CACC-record 36 points. She also set CACC Tournament records with 13 made field goals in 28 attempts.
• In CACC Tournament history (Division II era), a player has scored 30 or more points in a game six times and two of those efforts were recorded by Goldey-Beacom players. Along with Graham's CACC-record 36 points, Janae Weldon scored 30 points in the 2011 CACC Tournament championship game against Holy Family.
• Senior forward Akilah Sewell had five blocked shots in the Lightning's 20111 CACC semifinal win over Bloomfield, which is the third-highest single-game total in CACC Tournament history. She had seven blocked shots in that year's tournament.
• Senior guard Devonne Richardson posted 16 rebounds in the Lightning's 2011 CACC Championship Game victory over Holy Family; the 16 rebounds are tied for the sixth-highest single-game total in CACC Tournament history.
• Richardson had 34 rebounds in the 2010-11 CACC Tournament, marking the third-highest total in a tournament by a single player in CACC history.

Richardson in Exclusive Company Among Active NCAA Players
In addition to owning the Goldey-Beacom career rebounding record, senior guard Devonne Richardson can also claim her place as one of the best active players in the country in career rebounds. Entering Friday's CACC semifinal game against Caldwell, the Baltimore, Md. native is one of three active NCAA Division II women's basketball player with at least 1,000 career rebounds. Richardson, who also ranks among the NCAA active career leaders in several other categories, ranks fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference this season by averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.

Richardson Records First “Triple Double” in Lightning's Win Over Post
Senior guard Devonne Richardson became the first player in Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball history to record a “triple double” when she accomplished the feat against Post University on Jan. 26. The Baltimore, Md. native scored a game-high 14 points with 11 rebounds and a career-high 12 assists while leading the Lightning to a 68-45 victory over the Eagles at the Jones Center. It marked the sixth “triple double” game in NCAA Division II this season and is believed to be the first by a player in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference since Feb. 15, 2005 when Leah Shumoski of the University of the Sciences scored 13 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists against the Lightning in an 80-70 victory.

Too Close for Comfort
Of the Lightning's 20 victories this season, 10 of them have been decided by nine points or less. In addition, the Lightning have won three of their games this year with a field goal in the closing seconds of regulation. On Nov. 12, senior guard Jacinda Jones gave Goldey-Beacom a 67-66 victory at Kutztown with a field goal with two seconds remaining. Senior guard Devonne Richardson scored on a lay-up with 5.8 seconds left in regulation on Dec. 8 to break a 53-53 tie against Caldwell. In the Lightning's 61-60 win over Dominican on Feb. 16, senior guard Ashley Rosario scored on a lay-up as time expired to give Goldey-Beacom a one-point victory.

What's Ahead for Goldey-Beacom
Should the Lightning win on Friday, they would advance to the CACC Championship Game on Saturday, Mar. 8 at 4 p.m. and will face either Dominican or Holy Family. It would mark the second championship game appearance in school history. Goldey-Beacom edged Dominican on Feb. 16 by a 61-60 margin while losing a pair of tough games against the defending CACC champion Tigers during the regular season.
