Opening Tip-Off
After completing a very successful month of January, the Lightning will continue their push towards securing a berth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball championship on Saturday afternoon when they host Felician College at the Joseph West Jones College Center. Opening tip-off between the Lightning and the Golden Falcons is slated for 1 p.m. in the first game of a CACC doubleheader. Updating the Lightning
Now 14-8 overall and 11-2 in the CACC, the Lightning have won four straight games after a 73-57 victory over the University of the Sciences in a CACC South Division game at Bobby Morgan Arena on Tuesday evening. Senior forward Akilah Sewell posted her first “double double” of the season by coming off the bench to score 16 points with 10 rebounds while senior guard Jacinda Jones contributed 14 points after making four of seven three-point field goals and both of her free throw attempts. In addition, senior guard Devonne Richardson added 13 points with six rebounds and three assists. The Lightning's leading scorer with a 12.3 average, Richardson also leads the Lightning in rebounds, assists and steals. The Lightning will be looking to win their fourth straight home game when they host Felician on Saturday afternoon.

Scouting Felician
The Golden Falcons will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they travel to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon. Now 6-14 overall and 6-7 in the CACC, the Golden Falcons dropped a 64-57 decision against Post University in a CACC North Division match-up at Job Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The Golden Falcons, who led by 38-26 at half-time, were outscored by a 17-3 margin in the final seven minutes by the Eagles en route to the loss. Sophomore forward Ashley Morris led the Golden Falcons against Post by scoring a career-high 13 points while grabbing a season-high nine rebounds. Meanwhile, junior forward Trina Plummer added a team-high 15 points with six rebounds while junior guard Jac'Quel Saunders added 14 points with six assists. Plummer is the Golden Falcons' statistical leader by averaging 13.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Saunders is contributing 10.9 points per outing.  Coach Steve Fagan is in his fifth season as the Golden Falcons' leader. The 2011-12 CACC Coach of the Year, he has led Felician to a 62-66 record.

A Look Back at Last Year's Meeting
Led by a game-high 32 points from Destiny Barnette, the Golden Falcons rallied from a 12-point half-time deficit to defeat the Lightning in overtime by a 70-63 margin at the Job Gymnasium. Felician, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, used a strong performance from the foul line in the second half to force the extra session as the Golden Falcons made 12 of 15 free throw attempts. Barnette, who was the only Felician player in double figures, made 10 of 24 shots from the floor, including a two-for-eight effort from beyond the arc, while connecting on 10 of 14 free throws. Senior forwards Akilah Sewell and Irene Hudson each recorded a “double double” in a losing effort for the Lightning. Sewell scored 10 points with 13 rebounds while Hudson posted 20 points with a game-high 15 rebounds. However, the Lightning struggled in overtime by going 1-for-12 from the field.

Series Business: Felician
Saturday's game between the Lightning and the Golden Falcons will mark the 20th meeting between the two teams in a series that Felician leads by a 10-9 margin and dates back to the 2000-01 season. The Lightning have won six of the last eight meetings between the two teams. However, the Golden Falcons snapped a five-game losing streak against Goldey-Beacom last year by posting a 70-63 triumph at the Job Gymnasium.
