PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Junior guard Najah Jacobs (Central H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.) came off the bench to make 8 of 13 shots from the floor en route to scoring a career-high 25 points as Philadelphia University (6-3, 4-0) earned its third win in a row, a 72-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (6-6, 3-2) at the Gallagher Center on Saturday afternoon.

Led by Jacobs, the Rams ended a four-game losing streak against the Lightning and also earned its first win at home in the series since Jan. 22, 2009. Meanwhile, the Lightning suffered their third loss in the last four games.

After the Rams built an early 11-8 lead in the opening five minutes of the first half, junior forward Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) and junior guard Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) each scored four points during an 8-0 run to give Goldey-Beacom a 16-11 advantage with 12:30 left in the period.

But, a six-point spurt by the Rams regained a 17-16 edge with 10:07 remaining in the opening stanza on a jumper by senior guard Samantha Morris (Deptford H.S./Wenonah, N.J.).

The Lightning battled back to take a 36-32 advantage with 1:12 left in the first half before a five-point spurt by the Rams gave them a 37-36 edge with 20 seconds remaining on a Jacobs three-point field goal.

A lay-up by junior forward Dakia Manning (Freire Charter H.S./East Lansdowne, Pa.) with three seconds left allowed the Lightning to take a 38-37 advantage into the intermission.

Jacobs opened the second half with five consecutive points to give Philadelphia a 42-38 advantage, but the Lightning answered by tallying six of the next eight points to tie the game at 44-44 with 17:37 left in regulation on a jumper by junior forward Chelsea Grover (Seneca H.S./Southampton, N.J.).

However, the Rams scored 8 of the next 11 points to take a 52-47 lead they did not relinquish over the final 14 minutes.

While Jacobs led the Rams to the victory, Morris added a career-high 24 points after making 10 of 15 field goal attempts. She also contributed three rebounds with two assists and two steals.

Chukwueze and junior guard Taylor Leonard (John A. Coleman Catholic H.S./Lake Katrine, N.Y.) each scored 12 points to lead the Lightning while Grover added 11 points with seven rebounds. Richmond-Peters tallied nine points with a game-high 11 rebounds as the Lightning held a 40-27 rebounding advantage.

The Lightning will be idle until Saturday, Jan. 4 when they host Nyack College in a CACC match-up at 1 p.m.
