Richmond-Peters Posts 1st "Double-Double" of Career in Loss

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore forward Adreana Sadowski (Brandywine Heights H.S./Fleetwood, Pa.) scored a game-high 24 points, including 11 in the second half, and added 10 rebounds as Bloomsburg University (4-1) overcame a halftime deficit to earn a 60-48 non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (4-3) at the Huskies' Nelson Field House on Sunday afternoon.

The Huskies, who are receiving votes in the latest USA Today Division II Coaches Poll, limited the Lightning to just 19 points in the second half after falling behind by a 29-28 margin at the intermission.

Led by eight points from senior forward Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.), the Lightning sprinted out to a 14-6 lead in the opening seven minutes of the game. The Huskies answered by scoring 11 of the next 14 points to tie the game at 17-17 with 7:41 left in the opening stanza.

The Lightning regained the lead with back-to-back baskets from junior guard Kinshay Barbour (Howard H.S./Middletown, Del.) before the Huskies used an 11-4 spurt to claim a three-point edge with 1:19 left in the period on a jumper by junior forward Nikki Tamanosky (Cumberland Valley H.S./Camp Hill, Pa.).

But, the Lightning used a pair of baskets from Barbour and Richmond-Peters in the closing 40 seconds to take a 29-28 lead into the intermission.

The Lightning scored 8 of the first 14 points to open the second half, upping their advantage to 37-34 with 11:04 left on a lay-up by Richmond-Peters. But, the Huskies rallied by scoring nine consecutive points, including four points from Tamanosky, to earn a 43-37 lead with 8:28 remaining.

After Goldey-Beacom trimmed the deficit to 45-44 with 6:03 remaining on a three-point field goal by junior guard Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.), the Huskies put together a 7-0 run to extend their advantage to 52-44 with 4:24 remaining.

The Lightning narrowed the gap to six points with 3:54 left, but were unable to get any closer as the Huskies earned their second straight victory.

Sadowski, who posted her first "double double" of the season, made 10 of 15 shots from the floor and converted four of five free throws. Meanwhile, senior guard Catherine Noack (Liberty H.S./Bethlehem, Pa.) added 11 points with six rebounds and three steals.

Richmond-Peters scored a career-high 21 points in the loss for Goldey-Beacom while adding a game-high 12 rebounds for the first "double double" of her college career. She made 10 of 15 field goal attempts, including a three-point field goal attempt.

Meanwhile, Barbour added 10 points off the bench by making 5 of 11 shots from the floor while Chukwueze added nine points with nine rebounds and three steals.

The Lightning, who have played their first seven games on the road, will open their home schedule on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they host Concordia College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game at 1 p.m.
