McCoy's Record-Setting Effort Lifts Volleyball on Senior Day

Junior Outside Hitter Becomes Lightning's Career Kills Leader

WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior outside hitter Kadi McCoy (Dallastown H.S./Dallastown, Pa.) matched a career high by recording 24 kills and contributed 15 assists as Goldey-Beacom College (7-22, 1-18) celebrated Senior Day by rallying for a five-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Felician College (6-18, 6-13) at the Joseph West Jones College Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning, who earned their second win in the last three matches, had to come from behind to earn the victory. After dropping the first set by a 25-16 margin, the Lightning rebounded with a 25-18 victory in the second set. The Golden Falcons claimed the third set by a 25-17 score before the Lightning forced a fifth set with a 28-26 victory in the fourth set.

In the fifth set, the Lightning sprinted out to a 12-5 lead en route to a 15-11 victory to earn the match win.

While leading Goldey-Beacom to the victory, McCoy posted 20 or more kills for the second straight match and also became the Lightning's career kills leader, surpassing the record held by Norah Burdette. McCoy set the record with her first kill of the fifth set and finished with 972 career kills. Burdette set the school record with 968 kills in three seasons from 2003 to 2005.

In addition, McCoy added nine digs while posting a .438 hitting percentage with just three attack errors.

Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Taylor Moyer (Blue Mountain H.S./Schuylkill Haven, Pa.) tallied 13 kills with a .417 hitting percentage. She also led the Lightning's defensive effort with a season-high seven blocks.

Senior opposite Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) posted her eighth "double double" of the season with 29 assists and 15 digs. She also added six kills and three blocks.

Junior right side Daphne Bistrimovich (Freehold H.S./Freehold, N.J.) tallied 10 digs and a season-high five service aces while junior defensive specialist Niki Receveur (Concord H.S./Wilmington, Del.) contributed a team-high 20 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Olivia Emerson (Edward C. Reed H.S./Sparks, Nev.) led the Golden Falcons in the loss with a team-high 22 kills and nine digs while sophomore setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers H.S./North Fort Myers, Fla.) contributed a "double double" with 30 assists and 14 digs.

Prior to the match, the Lightning honored seniors Stephanie Kline (Frederick H.S./Frederick, Md.) and Shireema Green (Dickinson H.S./New Castle, Del.) on the occasion of the final home match in their careers.
