After opening the 2013 calendar year with a victory over Bloomfield on Saturday, the Lightning will return home on Tuesday night to welcome local rival Wilmington University to the Joseph West Jones College Center for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up. Opening tip-off between the Lightning and the Wildcats is slated to begin at 8 p.m. or approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game that starts at 6 p.m. Live stats and video of Tuesday's game will also be available by visiting the Lightning's official athletics website, www.gbcathletics.com.

Updating the Lightning
Now 9-7 overall, the Lightning are tied for first place in the CACC South Division standings after holding off Bloomfield for a 52-49 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Bloomfield Gym. Senior guard Devonne Richardson was limited to just seven points in the win, but recorded a season-high nine assists and became the second player in school history to reach 1,000 career rebounds with an eight-rebound performance against the Deacons. Meanwhile, senior guards Ashley Rosario and Jacinda Jones each tallied 13 points for the Lightning, who won their sixth consecutive conference game.  Richardson is the Lightning's leading scorer with a 13.4 average and ranks fifth in the CACC by averaging 9.8 rebounds per outing.

Scouting Wilmington
After dropping an 86-65 CACC decision against North Division-leading Dominican on Saturday afternoon, the Wildcats have lost four of their last five games entering Tuesday's contest at Goldey-Beacom. Now 3-12 overall and 1-7 in the CACC, the Wildcats will be trying to earn their first conference win since a 61-60 decision against Chestnut Hill on Dec. 4 in addition to their first road win of the season. Freshman guard Tenicia Spence led the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon by scoring 17 points, making 8 of 19 shots from the floor. She also added three rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, junior guard Lauren Brown added 15 points and six assists while senior guard Danielle Thomas contributed 10 points. Spence is the Wildcats' leading scorer with a 17.3 average while Thomas has contributed 10.7 points per game. Monday's game will mark the beginning of a stretch of three road games in the Wildcats' next four contests.

A Look Back at This Year's First Meeting
Senior guard Devonne Richardson posted her third straight “double double” by scoring 22 points with 13 rebounds as the Lightning earned their fourth straight win, an 84-53 CACC victory over the Wildcats at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex on Dec. 10. It marked the Lightning's seventh straight win over the Wildcats. Richardson, who tallied 10 or more rebounds for the sixth straight game, made 6 of 10 field goal attempts while connecting on seven of eight free throw attempts. In addition, she also added three assists in the victory. Senior guard Danielle Thomas led the Wildcats in a losing effort by scoring 14 points while freshman guard Tenicia Spence added 10 points. The Lightning set a season high with their 84-point effort against the Wildcats.

Series Business: Wilmington
Since the start of the 2002-03 season, the Lightning and the Wildcats have met 21 times in a series that Goldey-Beacom leads by a 14-7 margin. After posting an 84-53 victory over the Wildcats on Dec. 10, the Lightning have won the last seven meetings against their local rivals. The seven-game win streak by the Lightning comes after Wilmington earned four straight victories during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. There have been two overtime games in the series during the last 10 years with Goldey-Beacom winning both of those contests. A list of the last six meetings between the Lightning and the Wildcats is available in the PDF version of the game notes.

Lightning Look for Historic Seventh Straight CACC Win
The Lightning will be looking to set a school record for consecutive conference wins when they host the Wildcats on Tuesday night. With their 52-49 victory over Bloomfield on Saturday afternoon, the Lightning won their sixth straight CACC game to match the school record they set last year by winning six CACC games in a row from Jan. 24 to Feb. 9.

Richardson Joins Exclusive 1,000/1,000 Club
With eight rebounds in the Lightning's 52-49 victory over Bloomfield on Saturday, senior guard Devonne Richardson became the second player in Goldey-Beacom College women's basketball history to record 1,000 career rebounds. In addition, Richardson joined Kim Rowley (2003-07) as the only players (either men's or women's) in school history with 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Entering Tuesday's game against Wilmington, the Baltimore, Md. native needs just 26 rebounds to become the school's all-time leader. Richardson ranks fifth in the CACC with a 9.8 rebounding average this season. A complete list of the Lightning's all-time rebounding leaders is available in the PDF version of the game notes.

Closing the Books on 2012
As the calendar changes from 2012 to 2013, here are a few notes to cap off a successful calendar year for the Lightning women's basketball team:
• The Lightning posted a 20-11 record during the 2012 calendar year, including an outstanding 17-4 mark against CACC opponents ... They lost just four games in the 2012 portion of last season, including 9 of their final 11 games.
• The Lightning set a school record by winning six consecutive games against CACC opponents from Jan. 24 to Feb. 9 ... Two of those games required overtime - an 83-80 win at Philadelphia University on Jan. 26 and a 71-69 victory against Philadelphia University on Feb. 9.
• Senior guard Devonne Richardson led the Lightning by averaging 13.6 points per game during the 2012 calendar year ... She also scored in double figures in 24 of the Lightning's 31 games, including a 27-point performance against Post in a 75-59 victory on Jan. 28.
• Richardson and senior forward Irene Hudson both became members of the Goldey-Beacom College 1,000-Point Club during the 2012 calendar year ... Hudson scored 24 points in the Lightning's 75-64 win over Concordia on Feb. 18 to become the sixth player to reach the mark while Richardson accomplished the feat in the Lightning's win over Kutztown on Nov. 12.

Too Close for Comfort
Of the Lightning's nine victories this season, six of them have been decided by seven points or less. In addition, the Lightning have won two of their games this year with a field goal in the closing seconds of regulation. On Nov. 12, senior guard Jacinda Jones gave Goldey-Beacom a 67-66 victory at Kutztown with a field goal with two seconds remaining. Senior guard Devonne Richardson scored on a lay-up with 5.8 seconds left in regulation on Dec. 8 to break a 53-53 tie against Caldwell.

What's Ahead for Goldey-Beacom
The Lightning will travel to defending CACC champion Holy Family on Thursday night for the first of two meetings against the Tigers. Holy Family won both meetings against its South Division rival last year, earning an 81-67 victory in Philadelphia on Jan. 18 after a 76-51 triumph at the Jones Center on Dec. 3.
