WILMINGTON, Del.
- Looking to rebound from its season-opening loss, the Lightning women's soccer team will begin its 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule this week with a pair of road matches.

After visiting Philadelphia University on Thursday afternoon for a 4 p.m. match against the Rams, the Lightning will travel to Bloomfield College for an 11 a.m. match against the Deacons on Saturday morning.

Now 0-1-0 on the season, the Lightning dropped a tough 2-1 decision against Mansfield University in their home opener at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Kelly Williams (Copiague H.S./Copiague, N.Y.) gave Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute off an assist from senior Megan O'Connor (Archbishop Ryan H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.).

For Williams, it marked the 16th goal of her college career, moving her into seventh place on the Lightning's all-time list.

Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano (Shore Regional H.S./Ocean, N.J.) made four saves in the loss for the Lightning.

Off to an 0-2-0 start, the Rams will be trying to earn their first win of the season when they host the Lightning on Thursday afternoon. The Rams dropped a 1-0 decision against Southern Connecticut State on Friday afternoon before suffering a 4-0 setback at West Chester on Saturday.

Senior goalkeeper Kelli Kowalewski (Seneca H.S./Shamong, N.J.) has made nine saves in the Rams' first two games while allowing three goals. She made five saves against Southern Connecticut State before a four-save performance against West Chester.

The Lightning will be trying to avenge a 3-0 loss against the Rams in last year's meeting at Kirkwood Soccer Complex.

Picked to finish 12th in the CACC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Deacons will be opening their season when they host Goldey-Beacom on Saturday morning. The Deacons return 16 letter winners from last year's team that posted a 2-15-0 record.

Junior defender Mikie Bradley (Jackson Memorial H.S./Jackson, N.J.) is the Deacons' leading returning scorer after tallying six goals with one assist last year.

Led by three goals from sophomore forward Alexandra Smith (Pennsville Memorial H.S./Pennsville, N.J.), the Lightning earned a 6-2 victory over the Deacons in last year's meeting at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field.

The Lightning will return home on Tuesday, Sept. 11 to host Wilmington University in a CACC match at 3 p.m.
