NEW CASTLE, Del. – Senior forward Brittany Rhodes (Eastern Tech H.S./Baltimore, Md.) scored a goal and an assist as Wilmington University (2-2-1, 2-0-0) extended its unbeaten streak to three straight games with a 4-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (0-4-0, 0-3-0) at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

After opening the season with back-to-back losses, the Wildcats have posted a 2-0-1 record in their last three games and have outscored their opponents by a 6-1 margin in the last two games.

Sophomore Victoria Vasapolli (Burlington City H.S./Burlington, N.J.) gave the Wildcats a quick 1-0 lead in the third minute when she took a pass from freshman forward Chelsea Grace (Palmyra H.S./Palmyra, N.J.) and scored her team-leading third goal of the season.

Rhodes upped the Wilmington advantage with 26:55 remaining in the first half when she scored her first goal of the season after flicking in a free kick from senior defender Vikki Zipf (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.).

With three minutes remaining in the match, senior Penelope Fantis (Fallston H.S./Fallston, Md.) added an insurance goal by converting a crossing pass from Rhodes before sophomore defender Morgan Fraczkowski (John Carroll H.S./Forest Hill, Md.) contributed her first goal of the season off a Fantis assist.

While Rhodes and Fantis each led the Wildcat offense, senior goalkeeper Amanda Walters (Eastern Tech H.S./Baltimore, Md.) earned her first shutout of the season without needing to make a save.

Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano (Shore Regional H.S./Ocean, N.J.) made a season-high 10 saves for the Lightning, who were outshot by a 25-1 margin.

The Lightning will continue their three-match homestand on Saturday afternoon when they host Felician College in the first match of a doubleheader at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.
