WILMINGTON, Del. – Senior forward Taylor Dalrymple (Atlanta, Ga.) scored a game-high 23 points and added nine rebounds to lead 18th-ranked Shaw University (6-1) to its fifth win in a row, an 82-69 non-conference victory over Goldey-Beacom College (8-7) at the Lightning's Joseph West Jones College Center on Friday afternoon.

Dalrymple, who posted her second 20-point effort in the last three games, scored 13 of her 23 points in the first half as the Lady Bears jumped out to a 40-28 lead en route to the victory.

Led by seven points from junior center Crystal Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica), the Lady Bears sprinted to a 9-4 lead in the opening 3:10 of the first half. But, the Lightning answered by scoring 12 of the next 17 points, including a pair of three-point field goals from senior guard Jacinda Jones (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.), to take a 16-14 lead with 12:55 left in the period.

Junior center Crystal Harris (Jersey City, N.J.) ignited an 8-1 spurt for the Lady Bears by scoring five consecutive points, giving Shaw a 22-17 edge with 7:24 left in the opening stanza.

The Lightning narrowed the gap to 24-23 on a pair of free throws by senior forward Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) with 5:50 remaining in the first half, but the Lady Bears ended the period by going on a 16-5 run to take a 12-point advantage into the intermission.

Led by a pair of field goals from Hudson, the Lightning opened the second half by scoring seven points in a row to trim the deficit to 40-35 with 15:56 remaining. But, the Lady Bears answered by scoring 15 of the next 21 points to take a 50-41 advantage on a three-point field goal by sophomore guard Whitney King (Pocomoke, Md.) with 13:13 left in the second half.

After senior guard Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) narrowed the margin to 50-42 on a free throw with 12:53 remaining, the Lady Bears used a 9-1 surge to expand their cushion to 59-43 with 10:39 left.

From there, Shaw never trailed by fewer than 10 points en route to earning the victory.

In leading Shaw to the victory, Dalrymple made 8 of 15 shots from the floor in addition to making 5 of 6 free throw attempts. Meanwhile, Gordon contributed a game-high 12 rebounds with nine points while junior forward Adana David (Brooklyn, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 14 points with eight rebounds.
