OAKDALE, N.Y. – Senior forward Nicolette Marciniak (Archbishop Molloy H.S./Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 18 points and added 11 rebounds to lead LIU Post (3-0) to its third consecutive win, a 73-64 victory over Goldey-Beacom College (3-5) at the Dowling College Holiday Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Led by Marciniak, who posted her second “double double” of the season, the Pioneers remain undefeated while handing the Lightning their fifth straight loss after a 3-0 start.

Marciniak scored 10 of her 18 points in the first half as the Pioneers built a 39-33 lead in the opening 20 minutes. The Pioneers, who did not trail in the first half, led by as many as 13 points with 4:45 remaining on a lay-up from junior forward Shayna Gatling (Baldwin H.S./Baldwin, N.Y.).

Trailing by a six-point margin to open the second half, the Lightning used a 17-5 run over the first 5:46 of the second half to take a 50-44 lead. Senior guard Irene Hudson (Corcoran H.S./Syracuse, N.Y.) scored 10 of her game-high 24 points during the run.

However, the Pioneers answered by going on an 16-4 spurt over the next five minutes to reclaim a 60-54 advantage on a jumper from senior guard Ashley Caggiano (Sachem North H.S./Holtsville, N.Y.).

After the teams traded five-point runs, a pair of free throws by senior guard Devonne Richardson (Milford Mill Academy/Baltimore, Md.) narrowed the margin to 65-61 with 6:31 remaining. But, the Pioneers converted six of seven free throws over a two-minute span to extend the lead to 70-61.

Despite three made four throws by Richardson, the Lightning were unable to get any closer as the Pioneers held Goldey-Beacom scoreless over the final two minutes to earn the victory.

While Marciniak led the Pioneers to the victory, Caggiano added 15 points by making 6 of 10 field goal attempts in addition to contributing five assists and four steals. In addition, junior guard Alexis Peters (Fontbonne Academy/Dorchester, Mass.) and sophomore guard Chelsea Williams (Copiague H.S./Copiague, N.Y.) each scored 11 points.

Hudson scored a season-high 24 points to lead Goldey-Beacom in a losing effort, making 9 of 15 shots from the floor and all six of her free throw attempts. Meanwhile, Richardson added nine points with 11 rebounds while sophomore forward Chelsea Grover (Seneca H.S./Southampton, N.J.) had a career-high 13 rebounds with six points.

The Lightning will finish their three-game road trip on Friday, Nov. 30 when they resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule by visiting Concordia College for a 5 p.m. game against the Clippers.
