Women's Soccer Travels to Nyack for Season Finale

Lightning Trying to Snap Four-Match Losing Skid

WILMINGTON, Del. - Looking to finish the season on a positive note, the Lightning women's soccer team will play its final match of the 2012 season on Saturday afternoon by traveling to Nyack College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Warriors. Opening kick-off is set for 11:30 a.m.

Currently 3-12-0 overall and 1-10-0 in the CACC, the Lightning will be trying to end a four-match losing streak when they face the Warriors after dropping a 1-0 decision against Georgian Court on Wednesday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano (Shore Regional H.S./Ocean, N.J.) led the Lightning with nine saves as the Lions outshot Goldey-Beacom by a 19-3 margin.

Freshman forward Tiffany Kelly (Parsippany H.S./Parsippany, N.J.) leads the Lightning with five goals and two assists this season while junior forward Danielle Semenza (Hazleton Area H.S./Hazle Township, Pa.) has added four goals with an assist. The duo has combined to score 9 of the Lightning's 12 goals this season.

Meanwhile, Vetrano has played every minute in goal for the Lightning and has a 2.13 goals against average while stopping 71.9 per cent of the shots she has faced. Entering Saturday's match, she ranks fifth in the CACC with 82 saves.

Meanwhile, the Warriors had their two-match win streak snapped with a 1-0 setback at Dominican on Wednesday afternoon. Currently 7-7-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the CACC, the Warriors have secured a berth in the conference tournament, but could improve their position in the standings with a win on Saturday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Stacey Cervantes (Whittier, Calif.) is the Warriors' leading scorer with five goals and five assists while freshman forward Cyan Jean-Baptiste (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) has contributed six goals with an assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Madeline Barbarino (Staten Island, N.Y.) has started every match for the Warriors this season, posting a 1.90 goals against average and a .659 save percentage.

The Lightning will be looking to avenge last year's 3-1 loss against the Warriors as Nyack overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to earn the victory.
