WILMINGTON, Del. - Hoping to end a three-match losing streak, the Lightning women's soccer team will begin its final road trip of the 2012 season on Wednesday afternoon by traveling to Georgian Court University for a 3:30 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Lions.
Now 3-11-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the CACC, the Lightning have lost three straight matches after suffering a 5-0 CACC setback against Caldwell College on Saturday afternoon at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field, spoiling the Lightning's Homecoming and Senior Day. Senior goalkeeper
Alyssa Vetrano (Shore Regional H.S./Ocean, N.J.) made six saves as the Lightning were outshot by a 25-7 margin against the Cougars.
In addition to trying to end their current losing streak, the Lightning will be attempting to score a goal for the first time since a 3-0 victory over Lincoln (Pa.) on Oct. 3. During their current three-match losing streak, the Lightning have allowed 10 goals.
Freshman forward
Tiffany Kelly (Parsippany H.S./Parsippany, N.J.) leads the Lightning with five goals and two assists this season while junior forward
Danielle Semenza (Hazleton Area H.S./Hazle Township, Pa.) has added four goals with an assist. The duo has combined to score 9 of the Lightning's 11 goals this season.
Meanwhile, Vetrano has played every minute in goal for the Lightning and has a 2.21 goals against average while stopping 70.2 per cent of the shots she has faced. Entering Wednesday's matches, she ranks fifth in the CACC with 73 saves.
Currently 9-5-1 overall and 7-2-0 in the CACC, the Lions snapped a two-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Bloomfield College at the GCU Track and Field Complex. It marked the Lions' third straight match decided by a goal or less. Freshman forward

Freshman goalkeeper
Casey O'Connor (Toms River South H.S./Toms River, N.J.) earned her third shutout of the season after making two saves as the Lions outshot the Deacons by a 15-2 margin and owned a commanding 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman midfielder
Tori Capestro (Brick Memorial H.S./Brick, N.J.) is the Lions' leading scorer with seven goals and six assists while Vecchio has contributed five goals with five assists. Meanwhile, O'Connor has started all 15 matches for the Lions this year, posting a 1.27 goals against average, which ranks third in the CACC, with a .735 save percentage. She has also allowed just 18 goals this year, which ranks third in the CACC.
The Lightning will be looking to avenge last year's 3-2 loss against the Lions in a double overtime affair at Nancy-Churchman Sawin Field. The Lightning led by a 2-1 margin in the 61st minute before the Lions rallied to tie the game in the 81st minute before sending the match into overtime.
After Wednesday's match, the Lightning will end the 2012 schedule on Saturday, Oct. 20 against Nyack College in a CACC match at 11:30 a.m.
