PHILADELPHIA, PA -

Boxscore

Junior forward Irene Hudson notched a career-high 28 points, including the go-ahead lay-up in overtime as Goldey-Beacom College snapped Philadelphia University's six-game winning streak, 83-80. In a tight game that featured six lead changes and 13 ties, The Lightning opened the second half with a 12-5 spurt, lengthening a 34-33 lead to 46-38 on a lay-up by junior guard Ashley Rosario. The Rams responded with 20 of the next 30 points to surge back in front 58-56 on a pair of free throws by Christine Wooding (15 points, 10 rebounds, four blocked shots) with 8:21 to go. Six straight points put the visitors back in the driver's seat, 62-58, but the Rams' Stephanie Agger (team-high 19 points) scored back-to-back baskets to equalize at 62-62 with 6:14 remaining. The two teams remained in lock-step the rest of regulation, though Richardson's shot to win bounced off the rim just before the horn sounded. After an exchange of baskets, Richardson - who just missed a triple-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in 43 minutes of action - found Hudson underneath for the go-ahead score. Rosario (14 points, 11 boards, four assists) followed with consecutive baskets in pushing the lead to 79-73 at the 1:47 mark, but Philadelphia drew within 82-80 on a Wooding foul shot with 15 seconds on the clock. After Hudson split a pair at the stripe, Samantha Morris unleashed a 3-point attempt to tie, but it was off the mark, securing the gritty victory for the Lightning (12-6, 7-4 CACC). The Rams (14-5,8-2) were the more accurate shooters (45%-42%) and fared better from downtown (5-17 to 1-7) but the Lightning owned the glass, 54-40, including 21-8 on the offensive end. They also were better with ball control, handing out 20 assists to just 14 turnovers, while Philadelphia had 13 assists to 16 miscues. Goldey-Beacom travels to Waterbury, CT on Saturday for its third game in five days, taking on Post University at 1:00.
