PIKE CREEK, Del. - After over 20 minutes of scoreless action, freshman Alex Smith erupted for three goals in a 12-minute span, and the Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 victory over visiting Concordia College on Sat. afternoon at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Athletic Field.
The Lightning (2-2, 1-1 CACC) have already equaled last year's win total as they won their second straight over league foe, Concordia in decisive fashion. Concordia fell to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in leage play with the loss.
Smith, who registered three goals and assist in the Lightning's 6-2 win last week over Bloomfield, scored four goals today to lead GBC to victory. Senior

Kelly Williams was credited with two assists to lead GBC in that category.

Kristin Degenhardt earned the victory, making three saves to preserve a shutout through nearly 58 minutes of play. Junior
Alyssa Vetrano came on for the final 32:12 and made four stops while allowing one goal.
Concordia's Iyesha Ollivierre tallied the Clippers lone goal of the afternoon as she put home her own rebound after a deflection by Vetrano in the 92nd minute. Clippers goalkeeper Jessica Nanan played the whole 90 minutes and made three saves while allowing six goals.
In their last three games at Churchman Field, the Lightning have averaged 6.7 goals per-contest, dating back to last year's 8-0 season finale win over Lincoln.
The Lightning next go on the road to take on non-conference foe Washington Adventist on Tues., Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.
