ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.  - The Goldey -Beacom College men's basketball team used a 34-18 closing run to overcome an eight-point deficit in Rockville Center and defeat Molloy College, 73-65.  The spurt over the last eleven minutes of the game gave the Lightning their fourth straight victory as they head into winter break 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegaite Conference and 5-4 overall.

Molloy College's hot shooting carried them to a 33-27 halftime lead.  The Lions were led by Jimmy Nolan's four three-pointers in route to 46-percent shooting from beyond the arc in the first half. GBC could not find its offensive flow in the first twenty minutes as Lightning shooters could not locate the bottom of the net, especially from deep where they shot 3-of-14. The teams's rebounding kept the halftime deficit to six as they grabbed 11 of the offensive boards to keep the game close.

The second half started with back and forth action as the seeds of the Lightning comeback were planted. A more efficient offensive effort led to a balanced attack that eventually brought Goldey- Beacom the win. Led by Jordan Brooks' five second half assists, the Lightning shared the basketball and placed six players in double figures. Freshman guard Curtis Hopkins came off the bench to hit three big three-pointers during the game-changing run. The Lightning used two Richard Fleming free-throws with 5:32 left to grab a 56-54 lead which they never relinquished. It was their first lead since the 12 minute mark of the first half.

Fleming finished with 10 points, as did Curtis Hopkins.   A.J. Picard chipped in with 12 points while the Lightning were led by Jordan Brooks, Marcus Porter, and Tariq Uqdah with 13 points each.  Jimmy Nolan led Molloy and all scorers with 21 points, but was limited to five in the second half. Big man Daniel Concha chipped in with 14 points and led the Lions with nine rebounds. John Petrucelli added 11 points for Molloy.

Goldey -Beacom also used a stifling man-to-man defense in the second half as they limited Molloy to one three-point field goal in seven attempts. In addition, the Lightning extended their first half rebounding advantage by controling the glass in the second half. Freshman standout Marcus Porter overcame a poor shooting night to grab 13 errant shots.

The red-hot Lightning will enjoy their time off before traveling to Maryland to take on nationally-ranked Bowie State on December 30.
