GBC Women’s Soccer Suffers Lopsided Defeat at Georgian Court

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team allowed three goals in the first 14 minutes of play and never recovered as the visiting Lightning fell to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Georgian Court, 7-0 on Tues. afternoon.

The Lightning fell to 0-7-1 overall and 0-5-1 in CACC play while Georgian Court improved to 4-3-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Candace Seaton scored two of her three goals on the day and Kelly Lyons scored one of her two goals on the day all in a span of 13:10 to take a commanding 3-0 lead early in the game.

The Lions continued to pepper Lightning goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano with shots, taking 17 in the second half and adding four more goals. Vetrano tied her season and career-high with 13 shots on the day, including eight in the second half. She came into today's game ranked second in the CACC in saves and saves per-game.

Georgian Court's Nicole Petrosino added a fourth Lion goal just 39 seconds into the second half off an assist by Skyler Eiceman.

Seaton scored her third goal of the day in the 52nd minute and Lyons, the CACC leader in points and goals, added her second goal of the day (9th of the season) almost two minutes later.

Shannon Murphy finished the scoring for the day in the 74th minute to give the game its final score of 7-0.

Junior midfielder Karin Eriksson took a team-high two shots. Junior forward Ashley Longo, sophomore forward Kelly Williams and senior defender Ashley Welch took one shot apiece.
