Scoring Barrage Buoys Women’s Soccer in 5-2 Triumph Over Post

Goldey-Beacom registered a season high in goals and ran its unbeaten streak to three with a 5-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Post at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom struck first in the 21st minute.  Sophomore Maria Fonseca (Cascais, Portugal) took a great feed from junior Janie Cross (West Deptford, NJ) and buried one for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.

Lindsay Kin leveled things for the Eagles 10 minutes later before the Lightning struck again.  Junior Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, NV) was open in the box, took a pass from Fonseca and scored in the 38th minute for a 2-1 cushion.

Senior Miley Jones (Pemberton, NJ) added the secondary assist.

Jones one minute later put a grape next to her apple when she got a feed from senior Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, NJ) and netted for her fourth goal of the season, eighth career and a 3-1 halftime lead.

Sophomore Stine Solvik (Kristiansand, Norway) scored in the 47th minute and Jensen tallied three minutes later for her fifth of the year, 10th career and a 5-1 Lightning margin.

Alissa Rainon scored for Post in the 78th minute to cap the scoring.

Juniors Ella Badra (Caracas, Venezuela) and Irene Freire Trillo (Madrid, Spain) each had assists with the combination of sophomore Maria Empadinhas (Cascais, Portugal) and junior Jennifer Klumpp (Hockessin, DE) needing to make just one save for the Lightning (3-7-2, 3-2-2 CACC), who are 2-0-1 in their last three contests.

Celine Gubser made nine saves for the Eagles (0-12, 0-8).

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday steps out of league play to host Staten Island for a 3:00 pm match.
