ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team was deadlocked in a scoreless tie with host Dominican College for over 60 minutes, but could not withstand the Charger attack in the second half as they surrendered two goals in the final 28 minutes and lost 2-0 on Sat. afternoon.

The Lightning fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 to start Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play while Dominican improved to 3-0 (1-0 CACC).

This year's meeting proved eerily reminiscent of last year's 2-0 defeat against Dominican, with the same two Charger players (Jamilyn Snyder and Margaret Porter) scoring and in the same order. Snyder broke the scoreless tie this year with a goal at 62:57 off an assist from Kristen Haycook. She then assisted on Porter's insurance goal at 88:21.

The Chargers outshot GBC 18-8 and took six corner kicks to the Lightning's zero. Junior forward Felicia Justice took a team-high four shots and put two on net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Vetrano (0-2) played the whole game in the Lightning goal, making a career-high 13 saves while allowing two goals. Dominican's Kari Spicer earned a complete-game shutout by making five saves.

GBC will come back home to Wilmington, Del. to host cross-town rival Wilmington University at 4 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 14.
