PIKE CREEK, Del. – The Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team let a 20-point second-half lead dwindle down to six, but the Lightning pulled it together after a three-point field goal by Azeez Ellegood and came away with their third straight victory at the Joseph West Jones Center over Millersville University on Mon. night by a final score of 80-70.
Senior forward Terrence Parkes led all scorers as he tied his season and career high with 29 points and also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Ellegood added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists while senior guard Jon Crawford posted his third straight double-figure scoring night with 10.
GBC improved to 4-5 overall and 2-3 against the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with the win tonight. All four of the Lightning's wins this year have come at the Jones Center. Millersville fell to 3-3 and 1-2 versus the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Leading 33-28 at the half, the Lightning opened the second stanza with a 22-9 surge that expanded the gap to 55-37, before stretching it out to 62-42 with 11:50 to play. In each of GBC's three straight wins, the Lightning have opened up a 20-point or more lead midway through the period with a run to start the half.
The Marauders would not go away however, fighting their way back with a 21-7 run over the next six-and-a-half minutes to pull within 69-63 at the 5:29 mark. Mike Seibert was the catalyst, nailing all five of his team's three-point shots on the night, the last one topping off that run as he tallied a career-high 28 points (8-for-12 FG, 5-for-8 from three-point range, 7-for-8 FT).

Goldey-Beacom remained cold for two more minutes before eventually finding a way to rally. First, Crawford sank a pair of free throws to make it 71-63 with 3:43 left. Then, after Seibert followed suit, Ellegood drained a three-point shot at 3:03 that sucked the life out of Millersville and made the count, 74-65.
Ellegood later put the game out of reach at the line with just under two minutes remaining, beefing up the lead to 76-66, and the Marauders never came closer than seven down the stretch.
Millersville led 11-6 early on before GBC took control with a 10-0 spurt. The shooting percentages were virtually even (GBC 44 percent, Millersville 43 percent), but the Lightning made more free-throws (20-13), won the glass (43-32) and accumulated twice as many assists (14-7).
This game marked the third straight time that the Lightning have amassed 80 or more points, and the fifth time this season. No team in program history has ever scored 80 or more points in three straight games. Over the last two seasons, the Lightning are 14-1 when reaching the 80-point mark.
For Parkes, this was his fourth 20-point or better performance and his fourth double-double of the season. He now has nine 20-point scoring games and 14 double-doubles in his career at GBC. In just his second year with the Lightning, he is already the school's fifth all-time leading rebounder with 319 career boards (just three shy of Mike Tobiason ('06) for fourth on the list with 322) and the eighth all-time leading scorer with 602 points.
Senior swingman Sam McDuffie, who quietly scored nine points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench, is now just 13 points shy of tying Adrian Miles (2006-09) for third on the school's all-time scoring list. He recently surpassed Kyle White (2008-10) for fourth on the list and he has 1,105 points to date.
