PHILADELPHIA – The Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat on the road at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Philadelphia University on Wed. afternoon.
The Lightning (1-10-1, 1-8-1 CACC) were in striking distance of the third-place team in the league for nearly 80 minutes of play, but allowed two Ram goals late in the second half. Philadelphia U. (8-4-3, 8-2 CACC) outshot GBC 38-5 and took four corner kicks to the Lightning's one.
Junior goalkeeper Kristin Degenhardt made a season-high 18 saves while allowing three goals in the loss. She was just two saves short of her career-high 20, set against Philadelphia last season.
Philadelphia's Kelli Kowalewski played 82:49 and made two saves to pick up the victory. Rebecca Della Peruta came on for the final 7:11 but faced no shots.
Leading GBC offensively were senior defender Ashley Welch (3 shots, 1 SOG), junior forward Ashley Longo (1 shot, 1 SOG) and sophomore forward Kelly Williams (1 shot). 
PhilaU opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the first half when Maura Kasierski crossed to Kristin McKale who struck the ball into the left side of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Rams, who had the luxury of 11 fresh subs to the Lightning's two, stayed on the attack in the second half, outshooting GBC 21-3. Erin Walter added an insurance goal for PhilaU in the 80th minute on a rebound from a Kasierski corner, then Trisha Sileo booted a final goal with under four minutes to play.
