Lightning Fall 5-1 in Season Finale at Concordia

Sophomore Karin Eriksson scored the Lightning's goal in a 5-1 loss in the season finale

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half, the Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team allowed five second-half goals as the Lightning lost their season finale at Concordia, 5-1 on Fri. afternoon.

The loss drops GBC to 2-14 for the season overall and 1-11 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. Concordia, a newcomer to the CACC, improved to 4-11 overall and 3-8 in league play.

Sophomore midfielder Karin Eriksson scored the Lightning's lone goal in the 60th minute to bring GBC within a goal at 2-1, but the host Clippers struck three more times to end any hope of a Lightning comeback. The goal was Eriksson's ninth of the season, and she was assisted by sophomore Marissa Valladares.

The Clippers were led offensively by Iyesha Ollivierre, who tallied a hat trick and also added an assist. Rhea Belgrave also added a goal and an assist for Concordia.

Freshman Alyssa Vetrano played the full 90 minutes in the Lightning goal, making eight saves and allowing five goals. Concordia's Jen Stefankiewicz made two saves and allowed one goal to pick up the win.
