PHILADELPHIA – The Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team had its two-game win streak come to a halt on Tues. afternoon in Philadelphia as the Lightning suffered an 8-0 loss at the hands of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe, Holy Family.

GBC, which fell to 2-10 (1-6 CACC) on the season, was outshot 29-10. Holy Family (8-6-1, 6-2-1 CACC), which entered the game in fifth place in the CACC standings, took 18 shots in the second half and scored six goals after taking a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Freshman Alyssa Vetrano started in goal for the Lightning and made three saves while allowing two goals. Sophomore Kristin Degenhardt relieved Vetrano in the second half, making six saves and allowing six goals.

HFU's Melissa Benson opened the scoring for the day nearly 12-and-a-half minutes into the action to put the Tigers up 1-0. Megan Tole extended the HFU lead to 2-0 when she scored in the 32nd minute off an assist from Ashley Antczak. The Tigers took that 2-0 lead into halftime.

Just one minute into the second half, Kelsey Marvill tallied HFU's third goal, and the Tigers just kept pouring it on from there.

HFU would score three goals within three minutes, including two by Melissa Moratti to take a 6-0 advantage. Then Katie Maguire and Lauren Sullivan added a goal apiece for good measure as the Tigers cruised to an 8-0 victory.
