Wilmington, DE – Lightning women's soccer fights hard with Caldwell College

The Goldey-Beacom College women's soccer team hosted Caldwell College today.  The Caldwell Cougars were first score, but the Lightning struck right back with a through ball from Jeanette Benson to Karin Eriksson to tie the game.  The Cougars found the back of the net again 28 minutes into the game, and led at halftime 2-1. 

The second half started with a two more goals being scored by Caldwell, which pushed their lead to 4-1.  With ten minutes left in the game, the Lightning found an opening and Marisa Valladares scored on a shot from 10 yards out.  Jeanette Benson supplied the assist. 

The Lightning unfortunately could not strike again, and dropped the game 4-2.  Kristen Degenhardt recorded 9 saves for the game while Jeanette Benson added two assists to her resume. 

The women will face off against Bloomfield College on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at home.  Game time is 12pm.
