Women's Soccer gets first CACC win of the season

Wilmington, DE – Women's Soccer gets first CACC win of the season

 

The Lightning women's soccer team hosted Chestnut Hill College today in a CACC match-up.  The Lightning took the field and went out strong in the first half.  Within ten minutes from the start of the game, Kate Attenberger gave a through ball to Marisa Valladares who scored the first goal for the Lightning.  Near the end of the first half, Jeanette Benson chipped the Chestnut Hill goalkeeper for the second goal of the game, and the Lightning led 2-0 at halftime. 

 

In the second half, the Lightning was the first to strike again, with Karin Eriksson beating the Chestnut Hill goalkeeper.  Kate Attenberger assisted on all three goals for Goldey-Beacom College. 

 

Lauren Riiff scored a late goal for the Griffins, but it was not enough as the Lightning defeated Chestnut Hill 3-1 for their first CACC win of the season.  The Lightning will next play host to Caldwell College on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:00pm.
