Volleyball Rolls to 3-0 Victory Over Defending CACC Champion Bridgeport

The last time Bridgeport played at the Jones Center, it left with the CACC championship trophy.  Saturday proved to be a much different story.

Goldey-Beacom dominated from the first serve and continued to make a statement in its 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-16) CACC victory at the Jones Center.

As if the 75-51 scoring was not eye-popping enough, Goldey-Beacom cruised to a 43-26 kills edge and a .386 - .111 advantage in attack percentage.  The Lightning recorded eight blocks and seven aces in posting a 58-34 cushion in individual points.

The start for the Lightning (10-2, 2-0 CACC) is believed to be the team's best as schedules only exist beginning with the 2001 season.  It also is the first time Goldey-Beacom has won its first two CACC matches since 2014.

Today was another showcase for sophomore Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT), the reigning CACC Player of the Week who totaled 13 kills and no errors over 22 attacks for a .591 percentage.  It is the fourth time in the last five matches she has notched double figures in kills.

Junior Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) dished 19 assists, sophomore Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) had 14 and junior Etta Harris (North East, MD) amassed nine kills.  Senior Kloe Waymel (Mulhouse, France) had seven kills and four block assists, sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) notched six and four, junior Angelica Febres (San Juan, PR) recorded four block assists and junior Brianna Anderson (Meza, AZ) had 11 digs.

Ellison Spence notched 21 assists and Cecilia Kowalski recorded seven kills for the Purple Knights (3-8, 0-1).

Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday visits Wilmington for a 7:00 pm match.
