Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Plays Valiantly in 4-2 Loss at No. 25 Mercy

Goldey-Beacom gave No. 25 Mercy a battle and continued its solid play, but gave up two late goals for a 4-2 loss in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
 
Goldey-Beacom was down two goals in the first 26 minutes before mounting a comeback.  Junior Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, NV) started things in the 28th minute by receiving a pass from senior Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, NJ) and burying it for her sixth career goal.
 
Yeager then brought things level four minutes later.  She fired a shot inside the left post and scored for a 2-2 draw, her 13th career goal and 28th career point.
 
The Lightning's defense held their own and kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard for the next 35 minutes.  However, Mercy took the lead in the 67th minute when Elizabeth Crawford scored off a pass from Casey Szczotka.
 
Roslyn Almodovar scored in the 89th minute off Metzger's assist for the final.
 
Sophomore Maria Empadinhas (Cascais, Portugal) again was great with 10 saves for the Lightning (0-2).  Metzger and Connor Leahy each had four shots for the Mavericks (2-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is at Molloy for a 4:00 pm match in Rockville Centre, NY.
