Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Drops Two vs. Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom was dealt a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference losses, 11-6 and 6-2 by Chestnut Hill at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

The first game saw Keyon Motley rap four hits for the Griffins (18-17, 15-11 CACC), Dylan Broderick get three and Nicholas Shiffler add two.  Shiffler's two-run triple sparked a four-run second inning that opened the scoring.

Sophomore Jake Macey (Smyrna, DE) crushed a three-run homer in the ninth inning for his fifth long ball of the season and closed with four RBI.  Junior Bobby Stewart (Newark, DE) collected three hits.

Michael Pascoe (3-3) struck out four over 5 2/3 innings for the Griffins, allowing three runs – two earned – and six hits.

The Lightning in game two could not build upon another outstanding performance from pitcher senior Connor Blence (Downingtown, PA), who struck out seven over seven innings and allowed just one walk.  Roman Keith (Selbyville, DE) had a solo home run as part of his two hits and fellow sophomore Connor Wilson (Clayton, DE) added an RBI triple.

Shiffler continued his solid day with a two-run homer in the second as part of his three RBI.  Noah Tincher (3-2) settled down after a tough first inning to allow just two runs and four hits over six frames with three strikeouts.

Wilmington (20-6) easily took two games from Dominican (NY) and now owns a one-game lead over Goldey-Beacom (26-16, 19-7) for first place in the CACC.

Goldey-Beacom and Chestnut Hill close their three-game series Sunday with a 2:00 pm contest in North Wales, PA.
