Baseball Splits Two With Dominican

Goldey-Beacom rolled to a 16-4 win over Dominican (NY) after seeing its 11-game winning streak snapped with an 11-4 loss during Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

The Lightning in the fifth inning scored five runs for a 10-4 lead, keyed by a two-run homer from junior Bobby Stewart (Newark, DE).  Six more runs in the sixth closed the scoring, highlighted by a two-run single from sophomore Connor Wilson (Clayton, DE).

Stewart drove home three runs, senior Joey Current (Denver, PA) homered as part of his two hits and two RBI with freshman Kevin Dick Jr. (Millville, NJ) also getting two hits and two RBI.  Downingtown, PA senior Connor Blence (5-2) tossed six innings for the win.

Goldey-Beacom in game one fell into an early hole, but still saw Current get an RBI single in the eighth and sophomore Jake Macey (Smyrna, DE) homer in the ninth as part of his two-RBI game.

Macey and freshman Kaden Barmer (Edgewood, MD) recorded two hits apiece for the Lightning.

Fraelyn Rosario had two hits and five RBI with Pablo Guevara getting three hits for the Chargers (15-21, 11-11 CACC).
