Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at Lincoln

Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Lincoln (PA) rolled to a 23-3 victory in game one before cruising to a 13-3 triumph in game two in Lincoln University, PA.

Goldey-Beacom in game one kicked down the door with six runs in the top of the fourth inning for an 8-2 lead.  Sophomore Jake Macey (Smyrna, DE), picked Monday to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, broke the 2-2 tie with a three-run triple.  Sophomore Roman Keith (Selbyville, DE) followed with an RBI double, junior Trey Mason (Germantown, MD) got a run-scoring single and sophomore Jaime Neris Jr. (Philadelphia, PA) followed by getting hit with the bases loaded.

If that was not enough, the Lightning scored 11 runs in the sixth inning for a 20-3 cushion.  Nine different players drove in runs that frame with freshman Blair Davis (Bethel, DE) and sophomore Max Lopuhovsky (Scranton, PA) each getting a two-run double.

Sophomore Owen Knerr (Ocean City, MD) homered and tripled with Neris and Macey each getting a triple.  The three triples in one game are one off the team record accomplished three times.

Macey had four hits and five RBI with Mechanicsburg, PA senior Nate Miller (2-2) striking out seven over five innings.  It was Miller's 12th career victory, moving into sole possession of sixth place in team history.

Neris recorded two hits and three RBI with Knerr and Mason each getting two and two.

Goldey-Beacom tied the school record with 23 hits, set April 13, 2024 at Holy Family.  The squad also closed with seven doubles, one off the team mark accomplished April 8, 2017 at Bloomfield.

Game two saw the Lightning get a trio of two-run homers that put things out of reach.  Keith belted one in the third for a 4-0 margin, Knerr had one in the fifth for a 6-0 game and senior Joey Current (Denver, PA) added his own later in the frame for an eight-run margin.

Keith and Current each had two hits and three RBI with Neris and sophomore Brent Williams (Woodstown, NJ) getting two hits apiece.

Pennsauken, NJ senior Kory Williams (4-1) struck out seven over six innings for the Lightning (15-11, 8-3 CACC).

Jaden Greenidge struck out six over five innings for the Lions (5-13, 2-7).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Bridgeport for a noon doubleheader.
