Baseball Opens CACC Play With Split vs. Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom opened its 2026 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference slate with a doubleheader split against Jefferson, taking a 5-3 victory in game two after a 16-2 loss in the opener.

GBC in game two took the lead for good when sophomore Max Lopuhovsky (Scranton, PA) lined an RBI single in the fourth for a 2-1 cushion.  Owen Knerr (Ocean City, MD) added a sacrifice fly in the fifth and fellow sophomore Roman Keith (Selbyville, DE) followed with an RBI single for a 5-1 margin.

Keith and junior Trey Mason (Germantown, MD) each had two hits with sophomore Jaime Neris Jr. (Philadelphia, PA) clubbing his third homer of the season for the Lightning.

Pennsauken, NJ senior Kory Williams (3-0) struck out six over 6 1/3 innings and senior Kevin Dillon (Mount Bethel, PA) recorded the final two outs for his fourth save of the year, just one off the school's single-season record held by Karl Schmidt (2023), and fifth career.

Vincent Favata hit a two-run homer and Justin Egner had two hits for the Rams (2-7, 1-1 CACC).

Mason and senior Joey Current (Denver, PA) in game one each had two hits for GBC (8-9, 1-1).

Kyle Kozlowski hit a two-run homer as part of his four RBI, Aleksei Goldhill and Gabe Silva notched two hits apiece and Tyler Behm struck out seven over six innings for Jefferson.

Both teams last season competed in the same NCAA Tournament regional and this year are regionally ranked according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.  The Lightning are seventh and the Rams are ninth.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Caldwell for a noon doubleheader in Caldwell, NJ.
