Basketball Sees Three Picked to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll

Goldey-Beacom saw juniors Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) and Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll with junior Genesis Garcia (Aguada, PR) picked to the Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Williams averaged 17.5 points and 7.0 rebounds over two games.  He poured in a career-best 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting with eight rebounds Saturday in Goldey-Beacom's tough 80-78 loss at first-place Felician.  This was after Williams scored 10 points Tuesday in his squad's 77-73 triumph over Wilmington.
 
Williams has been on a tear in his last seven games, averaging 15.7 points in that time with a trio of 20-plus point games.  He also netted 24 points January 31 against Dominican (NY) and 21 on January 14 vs. Jefferson.
 
Jones averaged 13.0 rebounds over two games.  He hauled in 15 rebounds Tuesday against Wilmington before getting 11 on Saturday at Felician.
 
Giving the Lightning incredible play both from an offensive and defensive standpoint, Jones is 14th in the CACC with 13.8 points per game and sixth with 7.0 rebounds per contest.
 
Their play has Goldey-Beacom (16-7, 10-5 CACC) in second place in the CACC with an eight-game winning streak prior to last Saturday.  GBC has a one-game lead over third-place Jeferson (9-6) and is two games ahead of Caldwell (8-7) and Post (8-7).
 
Garcia averaged 15.5 points on 9-of-18 shooting over two games.  She scored 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting Tuesday in Goldey-Beacom's 89-69 triumph over Wilmington.  Garcia then netted 14 points Saturday at Felician.
 
Garcia the last four games has shown why her playing time is increasing, averaging 16.3 points in that span.  This included a career-best 22 points January 31 against Dominican (NY).
 
Both teams are home Wednesday against Georgian Court with the women's game at 6:00 pm and the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
