No. 30 Baseball Handed 8-7 Loss by Kutztown

No. 30 Goldey-Beacom continued its second trip in Cary, NC with an 8-7 loss to Kutztown.
 
GBC was in a 5-0 hole before scoring three times in the last of the third inning.  Roman Keith (Selbyville, DE) had an RBI single, scored on a wild pitch and fellow sophomore Owen Knerr (Ocean City, MD) added a run-scoring double.
 
The Golden Bears (1-2) extended the lead to 8-3 before the Lightning scored four times in the seventh.  Sophomore Zach Smethers (Nazareth, PA) and freshman Kaden Barmer (Edgewood, MD) each drew bases-loaded walks with senior Joey Current (Denver, PA) and junior Trey Mason (Germantown, MD) each hit by a pitch with the sacks juiced.
 
Keith ended with three hits, Franklinville, NJ sophomore George Starr (0-2) struck out four over four innings and sophomore Zach Davis (Newport News, VA) amassed four strikeouts over five innings.
 
Jared Ferguson collected three hits, Bo Barthol had two, Kannon Zdimal (1-0) struck out five over five innings and Logan Woodward got the last four outs for the save.
 
Goldey-Beacom (3-4) on Sunday ends its trip with a 9:00 am contest against Slippery Rock.
