Goldey-Beacom women's soccer traveled to Dobbs Ferry, NY to take on Mercy but came up short and was dealt a 3-0 loss in the second game of the season.
The first half remained scoreless, with the Lightning being held to only one shot and the Mavericks taking 10 of their own. The second half saw Mercy continue to be in control on the offensive end, taking 12 shots and converting on three. The first came in the 58th minute by Gracie DiPalo, assisted by Maleah Tarin, the second in the 76th minute by Maleah Tarin, assisted by Sarah Lill Hanks, and the third in the 88th minute by Hailey Metzger, assisted by Emma Best.
The Lightning were led by junior Miley Jones (Pemberton, N.J.) and sophomore Jessica Jensen (Las Vegas, NV), who both took one shot. Freshman Malaika Nunziata (Cape Town, South Africa) finished with 10 saves.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Saturday, when it hosts Molloy at 1:00 pm for the home opener at Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE).
