Volleyball Takes Command in the Final Three Sets for 3-1 Triumph Over Jefferson

Goldey-Beacom put its offense into high gear over the final three sets and was on its way to a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Jefferson at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

The Lightning in set two ended things on an 8-3 run after being in a 17-17 tie.  Kloe Waymel (Mulhouse, France) and fellow junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) each had a block assist to make it 24-20 and help GBC in a set in which it only committed three errors.

Goldey-Beacom in the third was on cruise control throughout, notching 12 kills and just three errors for a .237 percentage.  Jefferson committed 12 errors and totaled a .000 percentage.

GBC (5-7, 1-1 CACC) scored the first eight points in the fourth, punctuated on a kill by sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA), but saw Jefferson close to 18-14.  That was before the Lightning ended things on a 7-4 run in which freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) had two kills and Waymel closed the match on a kill.

Fullwood simply had a night with 15 kills, no errors and 28 swings for a stunning .536 percentage.  Sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) notched 41 assists and 13 digs for her third straight double-double and fifth this season, Gingras recorded 10 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double, sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) had 23 digs, junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy) pounded 10 kills and freshman Lia Rodriguez (San Juan, PR) added 12 digs.

Emily McKenna amassed 16 kills and 10 digs with Meredith Adams getting 35 assists and 10 digs for the Rams (5-4, 1-1).
