Volleyball Begins Its Weekend With a 3-0 Loss to Edinboro

Goldey-Beacom faced a tough test in the first of three matches this weekend in Lock Haven, PA, but was dealt a 3-0 loss (17-25, 18-25, 22-23) to Edinboro.
 
The Fighting Scots over the first two sets combined for 26 kills and just six errors over 63 swings for a .317 hitting percentage.  Edinboro in the final set owned a 16-10 kills edge with a .262 percentage, closing the match with 42 kills and a .295 percentage.
 
Junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy) recorded 12 kills, eight digs and a .310 percentage for the Lightning (3-6).  Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) had 14 assists and six digs, fellow sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) notched 14 digs and Ada Koksal (Istanbul, Turkiye) added nine assists to go with seven digs.
 
Makayla Neelands had 11 kills and 14 digs, Reilly Parent notched 10 and 11 with Grace Petro adding 18 assists for Edinboro (4-3), which has won three straight matches and four of its last five.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday faces Glenville State at 10:00 am and Lock Haven after 2:00 pm, both at Lock Haven University.
