Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Loss at Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom forced a fourth set and continued to see many young players gel, but was handed a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss (21-25, 20-25, 25-19, 22-25) at Holy Family in Philadelphia, PA.
 
Holy Family in the opening set pounded 11 kills and in the second overcame a 14-8 deficit by ending on a 17-6 spurt.  Shelby Kizner had four kills in that run for the Tigers and Leah Logan added three.
 
Goldey-Beacom got things to its liking in the third set, notching 11 kills versus just three errors over 25 swings for a .320 percentage.  Sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, GA) and junior Giuliana Jaku (Belluno, Italy) notched three kills apiece with Fullwood adding two blocks.
 
But Holy Family ended things in the fourth despite GBC recording 16 kills.
 
Jaku closed with 13 kills, nine digs and a .360 percentage for the Lightning (3-5, 0-1 CACC).  Freshman Alana Scott (Gaithersburg, MD) continued her strong start with 10 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double of the season, junior Baylee Brin (Salina, KS) had nine kills, Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) notched 22 digs and fellow sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) added 22 assists.
 
Kinzer closed with 15 kills, Mackenzie Layton pounded 10 and Mia Wise dished 47 assists for the Tigers (5-1, 1-0).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Friday will battle Edinboro in Lock Haven, PA, beginning at 2:00 pm.
