Men’s Soccer Falls at Chestnut Hill in CACC Opener

Goldey-Beacom hit the road for its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener and was handed a 5-2 loss at Chestnut Hill in Plymouth Whitemarsh, PA.

The Griffins got on the board 64 seconds in when Mohamed Bility scored off an assist from Abdoulaye Kamagate.  Bility assisted on a goal from Kervening Thelistin in the 38th minute and Andres Gomez tallied in the 40th minute to give Chestnut Hill a 3-0 lead.

The Lightning got one back in the 42nd minute after winning a penalty kick.  Senior Tiwalade Ogunfadebo (New Castle, DE) obliged by burying one inside the right post for his first goal of the season and second career.

Bility and Thelistin each scored in the second half before the Lightning booted home the final tally.  Junior Ajoma Smith (Wilmington, DE) eluded a defender and fed a pass to sophomore Johs Herden (Osnabrück, Germany), who in the 88th minute knocked home his second goal of the year.

Ogunfadebo had three shots and senior Jamel Yasin (Sewell, NJ) made five saves for the Lightning (1-4, 0-1 CACC).  Thelistin attempted four shots and Rodrigo Artiga totaled four saves for the Griffins (3-2, 1-0).

Goldey-Beacom this Saturday is home against Caldwell as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.  Game time is at 2:30 pm, which follows the women's noon contest.
