Goldey-Beacom men's soccer picked up its first win of the season with a 2-1 road victory over Daemen in Amherst, NY.
The first half saw relatively equal play from both sides, with the Lightning being limited to only two shots and the Wildcats taking five of their own. It wasn't until the 44th minute that Daemen converted on a shot and Larry Noel, assisted by Yves Sisse, scored the first goal of the game.
The Lightning came out strong in the second half and tied the game in the 74th minute on an unassisted goal by sophomore Sam Ball (Salisbury, Md.). The game looked as if it would end level until senior Sean Dickie (Aberdeen, Scotland) was awarded a free kick and found the back of the net in the 82nd minute for the game-winning goal.
Ball led the Lightning with three shots and senior Jamel Yasin (Sewell, N.J.) recorded three saves.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Wednesday, where they travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh, PA to open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Chestnut Hill at 7:00pm.
