Goldey-Beacom To Host CACC Volleyball Championship Weekend

Goldey-Beacom is proud to announce it has been selected to host championship weekend of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Tournament.

The four remaining teams vying for the league crown and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament will meet in Pike Creek for the semifinals on Saturday, November 22. The winners battle on Sunday the 23rd, also at the Jones Center, for the championship.

"We are very much looking forward to hosting the 2025 Volleyball Championship for the CACC," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said. "I believe we have one of the premier arenas and facilities in the league and I look forward to showing it off in tournament-ready fashion in November."

Eight teams qualify for the conference tournament with each hosted by the higher seed. The top two teams in each of the two divisions (North and South) host those matches.

The awarding of the bid certainly had something to do with the amazing turnaround the Lightning accomplished last season. The squad in 2024 produced a beyond-remarkable season in which the expectations were darn-near zero, but the results were monumental and memorable.

Thanks to a complete change of everything under first-year coach Alexa Poss, Goldey-Beacom (15-15, 8-8 CACC) made the 2024 campaign a stunning one after the team only won two matches in 2022 and just five sets the following season. Closing as the fourth seed from the South Division, the Lightning made just their second CACC Tournament appearance since 2006 and first since 2017.

Among the individual accomplishments, sophomore libero Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) made an immediate impact on defense in being tabbed second team all-conference. Two graduated players also were key with Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) named first team All-CACC and Piper Nanouski (Chicago, IL) picked third team.
