Track and Field Closes Day One of CACC Championship; Ferry Places Second in 10K, Rumph Takes Second in Hammer and Chardon Places Third in Javelin

Goldey-Beacom's track and field teams opened up day one of the CACC Championship with a strong showing, earning three podium finishes and multiple qualifications for event finals.

For the men's team, sophomore John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) took home second place in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 34:46.16. Tilak Datta from Caldwell was the first place finisher and is now a three-time champion in the event. 

For the women's team, junior Jourdyn Rumph (Ardmore, PA) placed second in hammer throw with a distance of 42.20m and senior Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) placed third in javelin with a throw of 37.19m.

On the men's side, athletes advancing to the finals in their respective events include: senior Dev Napier (Hagerstown, MD) in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, sophomore Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and 400 meter hurdles, sophomore Chris Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) and freshman Lathan Love-Brown (Wilmington, DE) in the 400 meter dash, and freshman David Yunga (Philadelphia, PA) in the 400 meter hurdles.

On the women's side, athletes advancing to the finals in their respective events include: freshman Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, NJ) in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and 400 meter dash, Karla Chardon in the 100 meter dash, freshman Liv Drewling (Düsseldorf, Germany) in the 400 meter dash and 400 meter hurdles, and senior Ny'jashia Smith (Newark, DE) in the 400 meter hurdles.

Both teams compete in day two of the CACC Championship, with the qualifying athletes racing in the final round of their events, beginning at 9:00am.
