Goldey-Beacom track and field saw five athletes compete at the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA.
Women's track and field was represented by senior Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) in the javelin throw. A two-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's javelin champion competing at the Penn Relays for the second time in three years, Chardon placed 15th overall with a throw of 37.98m.
Men's track and field sent sophomore Jalen Wright (Wilmington, DE) to compete in the 400 meter hurdles, where he finished 24th overall with a time of :53.10 to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships. The Lightning also competed in the 4x400-meter relay, featuring senior Dev Napier (Hagerstown, MD), sophomore Chris Robinson (Philadelphia, PA), freshman Lathan Love-Brown (Wilmington, DE) and Wright. The relay squad finished 14th overall among the three heats with a time of 3:15.00, narrowly missing the cutoff for the relay final.
Both teams are back in action Saturday at day two of the Lions Invitational in Ewing, NJ, beginning at 11:00 am.
