Game Recap: Baseball |

Braden Kolmansberger Breaks the Career RBI Record for No. 18 Baseball, Which Splits Two One-Run Nailbiters With Post

Senior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) became the career RBI leader for No. 18 Goldey-Beacom and helped his team record a 7-6 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory in game two over Post after the squad dropped a 9-8 contest at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

Kolmansberger, last year's CACC Player of the Year and a second team All-East Region pick by three organizations, drove home three in game one and added another in the nightcap to put him at 139 career RBI.  The previous mark of 137 was held by Kyle Walker (2021-24).

Kolmansberger also became the second in program history to reach 200 career hits, now sitting at 202.  Walker holds the top mark at 230.

The Lightning in game two were in a 2-1 hole when sophomore Bobby Stewart (Newark, DE), who had come into the game as a pinch-runner, provided some key and necessary offense.  He sent a long drive to left-center field for his league-leading 10th home run of the season and a 3-2 GBC lead.

It also marks the seventh time in team history a Lightning player has reached double figures in one season.

Three more runs crossed home in the fourth with Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, NJ) getting an RBI single and fellow senior Jaden Dickerson (New Castle, DE) adding a two-run double for a 6-2 margin.

It was 7-4 going to the seventh when Isaiah Velazco cracked a two-run homer to make it a one-run contest.  After Damaurys Rodriguez singled, freshman George Starr (Franklinville, NJ) came out of the bullpen to get the next three outs for his first collegiate save.

Dickerson had two hits and two RBI with senior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) getting an RBI.  Mechanicsburg, PA junior Nate Miller (3-0) struck out three over four innings.

Velazco amassed two hits for the Eagles.

The Lightning in the ninth inning of game one got within 9-8 when freshman Zach Smethers (Nazareth, PA) continued his impressive freshman campaign, rapping a two-run single.  But the Eagles bullpen got the next two outs for the final.

Kolmansberger had three hits and three RBI, Smethers and Dickerson got two and two with Stewart adding two hits for the Lightning.

Harby Valera (1-1) pitched seven solid innings out of the bullpen for Post, striking out six.  Rodriguez and Justin Rivera had two hits and two RBI apiece.

Goldey-Beacom (31-13, 21-7 CACC) is in second place in the CACC South Division, Jefferson (22-6) is in first by one game and Wilmington (20-8) is in third.  All three have six league games remaining.

The top two teams in each of the two divisions hosts a first-round, best-of-three series in the CACC Tournament.

GBC on Saturday visits Wilmington (DE) for a noon doubleheader in New Castle.

Goldey-Beacom today also learned it is part of the NCAA East Regional Rankings.  As is the case for seemingly all Division II sports, the first ranking is alphabetically listed.  It is this ranking that is the primary method of selecting and seeding teams for the NCAA Tournament.
