Track and Field Competes at the Paul Donahue Invitational

Goldey-Beacom's track and field teams finished strong on day two of the Paul Donahue Invitational, notching multiple top five finishes.


On the men's side, Senior Dev Napier (Hagerstown, Md.) grabbed first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.60 seconds and notched second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.44 seconds. Also in the 100 meter, sophomore Brian Hamilton placed 59th with 11.70 seconds and freshman Nijair Williams (Philadelphia, Pa) finished 79th in 12.06 seconds. The 110 meter hurdles saw freshman David Yunga (Philadelphia, Pa) finish 14th with 16.06 seconds. 


Sophomore Jalen Wright (Wilmington, De) grabbed a third place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.53 seconds and an eighth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with 55.73 seconds. Also in the 200 meter dash, freshman Ty'Shawn Ewings (Harrisburg, Pa) placed 22nd with 22.55 seconds, sophomore Chris Robinson (Philadelphia, Pa) finished 39th in 22.73 seconds, and junior Kedar Reid (Bear, De) placed 66th with 23.21 seconds. In the 400 meter run, Robinson finished 11th with a time of 48.96 seconds, freshman Lathan Love-Brown (Wilmington, De) placed 20th with 50.14 seconds, Reid finished 49th with 51.97 seconds, senior Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, De) placed 59th in 52.66 seconds, and freshman Matthew Haight finished in 74th with 55.10 seconds. Also in the 400 meter hurdles, Ali-Bentley finished 17th with 58.64 seconds and sophomore Zach Phy (Lancaster, Pa) placed 28th with a time of 1:02.50.


The 1500 meter run saw freshman Kalle Ohlund (Huskvarna, Sweden) place 36th with 4:08.41, sophomore John Ferry (Rising Sun, Md) finish 50th in 4:17.89, and freshman Aquillino Rozanski finish in 70th with 4:37.57. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, senior Yusef Shakur placed 21st with a time of 11:01.43. 


In the field events, junior Sebastien Lacroix (Hamilton, NJ) placed fourth in hammer throw with a distance of 46.63 seconds. In high jump, Ewings grabbed third place with a jump of 1.98m and junior Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, De) placed seventh with a jump of 1.88m. In long jump, Ewings placed 12th with a jump of 6.31m, freshman Zay McAllister (Bordentown, Nj) finished 19th with 6.12m, and Williams finished 50th with a jump of 5.11m.


On the women's side, senior Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) placed 18th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.91 seconds and 36th in the 200 meter dash with 27.05 seconds, while freshman Ryley Dixon (Pilesgrove, NJ) grabbed ninth in the 200 meter with 25.17 seconds. In the 400 meter run, Dixon finished in fifth with a time of 57.52 seconds, fellow freshman Liv Drewling (Düsseldorf, Germany) placed 14th with 1:00.9, Aiyanna Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa) grabbed 29th with 1:03.51, and senior Kaylah Hill (Brooklyn, NY) finished 47th with 1:10.56.


The 400 meter hurdles saw senior Ny'jashia Smith (Newark, DE) place 19th with a time of 1:17.58, while Drewling notched 15th in the 800 meter run with 2:19.91 and senior Izzy Popoff (Cicero, Ny) finished in 54th with 2:32.23. Popoff also finished 43rd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:23.82 and fellow senior Madelynn Cool (Smyrna, DE) placed 47th with 5:40.43.


In hammer throw, freshman Dominique Lewis (Salem, NJ) finished 24th with a throw of 31.79m and junior Madison McGowan (Bristow, Va) placed 25th with 30.96m. High jump saw senior Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) notch a ninth place finish with a jump of 1.50m and Drewling placed 10th with 1.45m. Junior Maya White Eagle (Baraboo, WI) placed 19th in javelin throw with a distance of 21.80m.


Selected Goldey-Beacom track and field athletes compete next at the Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday in Philadelphia, Pa.
