Goldey-Beacom baseball, in a four game series with D'Youville, dropped game two, but were able to rally back and walk-off, 6-5, in game three.
Game one saw D'Youville come out of the gate swinging, with Billy Morris homering on his first at-bat. D'Youville added their run in the fourth inning when Cooper Cefaratti hit a sacrifice fly to right field to send Jake Hollins home.
The Lightning began their scoring in the fourth inning when junior Anthony Charles (Mullica Hill, N.J.) had a sacrifice fly to center field to send senior Christian Petrillo (New Brunswick, N.J.) home, who got on base off a bunt. Senior Mitch Jolikko (Middletown, DE) hit a triple to right center to lead fellow senior Braden Kolmansberger (Lewisberry, PA) to home plate. Jolikko then stole home to score during a run down with senior Adam McEvoy (Sewell, N.J.)
D'Youville added a third run in the sixth inning when Dillon Crook doubled to right field and sent Jonathan Simpson home. In the bottom of the sixth, Charles hit his first home run of the season to give GBC a 4-3 lead. D'Youville added their final earned run off of a double from Hollins to center field to send Kevin Del Vecchio home. A series of walks and a single from Crook gave D'Youville a 7-4 lead heading into the eighth.
Goldey-Beacom gave a final push in the bottom of the ninth when Petrillo was hit by the pitch to advance Bobby Stewart (Newark, DE) home and Max Lopuhovsky (Scranton, PA) reached home on an error, but the Lightning could not prevail and were dealt a 7-6 loss.
Game two of the day saw similar action to the first game, where D'Youville came out swinging earning two runs in the first inning off a sacrifice fly from Hollins to send Alec Boucher home. In the fourth a double from Garett Wilson to center field brought in a run from Hollins.
GBC got on the board in the fourth when McEvoy doubled to left field to send Jolikko home and senior Dante DiSabatino (Middletown, DE) hit a single to lead McEvoy home. For D'Youville, Morris hit his second homer of the day in the fifth inning to give DYU the 3-1 advantage. GBC saw doubles from Williams and Kolmansberger to add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. D'Youville added one final home run in the sixth from Derek Onevelo to even the score at four.
Disabatino doubled to right field to send McEvoy home and take the lead, but D'Youville battled back and earned a tying run from Morris off a sacrifice fly from Simpson.
The Lightning walked-off in the bottom of the seventh inning off of a single to left field from Jolikko to send Kolmansberger home for the winning run.
Senior Ryan Pozo (Fords, N.J.) picked up the win on the mound to improve to 2-0.
Goldey-Beacom plays game four of the series against D'Youville on Sunday at 12:00pm at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.
